Your Sky Viper was calibrated at the factory, but it may have encountered environments during delivery that require recalibrating your components. These components can be calibrated when going to the Calibration page of the WEB AP interface.
Accelerometer
The accelerometer can be calibrated in either the Simple or Six-Axis calibration methods. Usually, the Simple Accelerometer option is enough. To calibrate, place the Sky Viper on a smooth, level surface with the power on and pressing the Start Simple Accelerometer Calibration button. The calibration will take just a few seconds. This type of calibration is good for most users.
Magnetometer
Poor performance while holding position (wide wandering, slow circular movements during hover) are indications of a bad calibration of the Magnetometer. Open the WEB AP interface, select Calibration menu and select the Magnetometer tab to access the Magnetometer Calibration options. After clicking the button, you will need to rotate the frame several times in multiple angles. Rotate the frame while level, then with the nose down, then nose up, left side down, then right side down. Continue rotating the frame through each of these positions. As info is gathered the status bar on the calibration page will fill. If the calibration is complete and it has an acceptable value, the completion text will appear in a green color and the value will be generally below 12 or so. The lower the number the better. If the text appears red, the calibration failed and needs to be redone.
Please note: During the magnetometer calibration, please make sure the Sky Viper is far away from anything metal. A distance of 6ft (2m) is best. Remove anything metal from your pockets, watches, etc. Seriously. It’s crazy how a little bit of metal can offset a good calibration.
